Parental Bereavement Leave

Parental bereavement leave applies to parents who suffer the death of a child under the age of 18 and includes parents who suffer a stillbirth after 24 weeks of pregnancy.

Leave Amount

Employees will be granted 4 weeks of parental bereavement leave (pro-rata for part-time staff) at full pay regardless of length of service.

Should the need for time off continue after the period of parental bereavement leave,there is no automatic right to extend this. Other options may be considered and discussed with the employee. This may include, for example, annual leave or unpaid leave.

Requesting Parental Bereavement Leave

Staff guidance

You must notify your line manager as soon as is reasonably practicable if you need to request parental bereavement leave.

Your line manager will arrange for your absence record to be updated on your behalf.

Manager guidance

Parental bereavement leave applies to parents who suffer the loss of a child under the age of 18 and includes parents who suffer a stillbirth after 24 weeks of pregnancy. Employees will be granted 4 weeks of parental bereavement leave (pro-rata for part-time staff) at full pay regardless of length of service.

You will need to arrange for your Departmental TeamSeer administrator to update the member of staff’s TeamSeer absence management record accordingly.
