Imperial's Negotiation Team and JTU have agreed upon the statements below.
Joint Statement Meeting One – 9 April 2025
2025 – 26 Local Pay Bargaining
Representatives from the Imperial negotiating team and the Joint Trade Unions (for UCU, Unison and Unite) met on Wednesday, 9 April 2025, to commence the annual local pay bargaining exercise, with the opening discussions focused on the university’s response to the Joint Trade Unions’ revised pay claim for 2025-26.
Both sides requested further information and clarification during the opening meeting to help facilitate ongoing negotiations, with the next meeting scheduled for Monday, 28 April 2025. Both sides look forward to meeting again, after which a second joint statement will follow. Regular updates will also continue to be published on the People Function webpages as the negotiations progress.
Joint Statement Meeting Two – 28 April 2025
2025 – 26 Local Pay Bargaining
Representatives from the Imperial negotiating team and the Joint Trade Unions (UCU, Unison, and Unite) met on Monday, 28 April 2025, to continue the annual local pay bargaining exercise. During this meeting, the Unions provided further information on their revised pay claim, and the University's negotiating team addressed any outstanding questions raised at the first meeting.
Negotiations then progressed, and it was agreed that the next meeting, scheduled for Thursday, 8 May 2025, would focus on the benefits component of the claim.
Both sides look forward to meeting again, after which a third joint statement will be issued. Regular updates will continue to be published on the People Function web pages as negotiations progress.
