Alumni Affinity Networks provide an opportunity for Imperial alumni to connect, share ideas, and exchange expertise. Whether focused on a specific sector, shared identity, or common interest, these networks foster collaboration, address unique challenges, and create opportunities for mutual support among alumni worldwide
We are excited to launch two new sector specific Affinity Networks focussed on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Sustainability. These networks will join our existing portfolio of alumni groups and networks and are aligned with Imperial’s new Schools of Convergence Science.
The new Alumni Affinity Networks will be alumni-led and aim to:
- foster partnerships between alumni, industry leaders, and Imperial researchers/academics
- unite alumni professionals interested or working in the sector to share knowledge and expertise
- support Imperial’s commitment in the sector and related initiatives
Alumni Volunteer Role Description: Alumni Affinity Network Leadership Committee Member
We are seeking enthusiastic alumni volunteers to lead, develop, and grow these communities. Your ideas, energy, and professional contacts will be essential in shaping the direction and success of these networks.
By joining the leadership committee, you will play a vital role in creating an engaged and self-sustaining community.
This role would suit alumni who are:
- Enthusiastic advocates: eager to champion Imperial's mission and values, and actively support and engage Imperial’s alumni community.
- Innovative thinkers: ready to bring fresh ideas with the relevant skills and experience to drive engagement and deliver activities for the Network.
- Committed leaders: willing to dedicate time and energy to proactively nurturing and growing a new network.
- Able to commit for a minimum term of one year and join events/meetings virtually or in person based on UK timings.
What to expect
Committee members will take part in an induction and have access to volunteer resources, toolkits, and a staff liaison.
As part of the committee, you can expect to:
Innovate and lead:
- Use your expertise and your professional network to deliver activities that support professional development, lifelong learning and networking opportunities for alumni.
- Organise and host the Network’s activities - including identifying themes, shaping the key topics, identifying speakers, securing a venue, and facilitating delivery.
Engage and cultivate a thriving community:
- Create relevant content and manage your Network’s social media channels, which may include LinkedIn and WhatsApp among others.
- Be an active member of Plexus, Imperial’s community platform for alumni, and manage the Network’s presence on the platform.
- Promote participation among peers and attend events organised by the Network.
Connect and collaborate:
- Build bridges between alumni, industry experts, and Imperial academics.
- Attend regular committee meeting (virtually or in-person).
