Imperial’s Alumni Engagement team is committed to putting alumni at the heart of its service delivery. We offer alumni a range of services, benefits and programming to support their lifelong connection with Imperial and with the alumni community.
To benefit from these services, as members of the Imperial community, alumni must behave in a way that is aligned with Imperial’s values, and to abide by the terms and conditions associated with the use of specific services.
In circumstances where alumni do not adhere to these principles and standards or exhibit inappropriate or unacceptable behaviour, their access to alumni services and benefits may be withdrawn.
Alumni are defined for this purpose as ‘any individual who has studied a full term at the university, Imperial’s constituent colleges, or any of the colleges with which Imperial subsequently merged.’ Guests of alumni are also covered by this policy.
- By registering for an event sponsored, hosted or promoted by Imperial College London and/or Imperial alumni, you agree to abide by this code of conduct.
- This includes events which take place at non-Imperial locations.
- You also acknowledge that this code of conduct is subject to review and might be changed without prior notice.
- You accept responsibility for familiarising yourself with, and abiding by, these terms.
- Causing distress or inconvenience to other alumni, staff or guests.
- Verbal abuse including sexist, racist, or exclusionary comments or jokes, inappropriate sexual attention or innuendo, offensive or belittling comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, physical appearance, body size, ethnicity or religion.
- Deliberate intimidation, threats, coercion, stalking.
- Inappropriate physical contact, physical assault, or lewd behaviour.
- Harassment such as sustained disruption of events.
- Photographing or recording of an individual without consent.
- Damage to property.
- Attendees acknowledge that being under the influence of alcohol, drugs or being otherwise intoxicated is not an excuse for lack of courtesy, rudeness, harassment or victimisation of staff, another attendee or guest.
- All attendees are advised to drink responsibly and are responsible for their own health and behaviour whilst attending a university event, regardless of where the event takes place.
- Photo ID may be required if alcohol is served at an event where it is possible under-18s are present.
- Catering staff reserve the right to refuse drinks service to anyone unable to provide ID to prove their age, or to anyone showing signs of intoxication.
- When someone is asked to stop any behaviour that makes others uncomfortable, they are expected to comply immediately.
- Anyone identified by Imperial staff, alumni volunteers or other event hosts, and/or security staff as causing any form of harassment, alarm, or distress may be required to leave the university premises or event venue.
- If you are asked to leave an event as a result of your behaviour, you will not be issued a refund and may be excluded from attending future events.
- The event host reserves the right to ban the individual(s) concerned from the use of or access to Imperial’s properties, campuses, buildings, facilities, or services. A temporary or permanent ban will depend upon the significance of distress or inconvenience to staff or other users, and the risk of damage to property.
- In cases of serious misconduct, staff members, students and other alumni should report the behaviour to the Alumni Engagement team and Security. Complaints will be assessed on an individual basis.
Imperial College London and/or Imperial alumni may hire professional and/or videographers.
By registering for and attending an event, you acknowledge that you may be photographed or filmed during the event.
You acknowledge that Imperial College London and/or Imperial alumni may use images and/or videos of you for official business use including but not limited to future event promotion, social media posts, and for use on university websites.
