Global Skills Development
We equip students with the essential academic, professional, and interpersonal skills needed to succeed across all BSc, MSc and MBA programmes at the Business School. Our tailored support includes 1-to-1 consultations, team coaching, full-cohort workshops, and online resources focused on presentation, writing, and teamwork skills, as well as broader learner development competencies and the impact of language on communication.
Areas of skill development
We help students maximise presentation grades and build lasting public-speaking confidence through personalised coaching, rehearsal sessions, and interactive skills workshops. Sessions align with course requirements and cover verbal and non-verbal communication, slide design, structuring and sequencing content, audience engagement, timing, and impact. Support includes team-based coaching for assessed presentations, workshops that develop delivery and confidence, and online resources through the Study Skills Primer to strengthen overall performance.
We help students strengthen academic and professional writing across essays, reports, case studies, and reflective assignments. Using examples from student own work, we aim to ensure writing is clearer, more concise, and better structured - focusing on critical thinking, academic referencing, text cohesion, clarity of key messages, and appropriate writing style. Support is offered through workshops, 1-to-1 tutorials, and online resources via the Study Skills Primer.
We help students develop the teamworking skills needed to excel on team-based assignments and get the most from the Business School experience. Support focuses on understanding effective teamwork, navigating challenges, and improving collaboration through induction workshops, mid-year review workshops, team mediation sessions where needed, a survey to assess team performance, and online resources on building strong teams via the Study Skills Primer.
We work closely with Careers to help students present themselves with clarity and confidence in writing and in person. Our focus is on showcasing strengths, aligning communication with job requirements, and ensuring students’ authentic voice comes through professionally. Support includes 1-to-1 CV and cover-letter consultations with targeted line-by-line edits, as well as tailored interview coaching to strengthen structure, delivery, and overall impact.
We also provide targeted support at key transition points, helping students prepare for study at the Business School and meet essential language requirements. We offer orientation workshops, language waiver Interviews, 1:1 English language support for international students.
