LGBTQIA+ History Month
February marks LGBTQIA+ History Month across the world. This month, we are highlighting the contributions, success, and achievement of the LGBTQIA+ community.
As part of this, we asked our students from the LGBTQ+ and Allies Business Club:
'What does being part of the LGBTQIA+ community mean to you?'
What does being part of the LGBTQIA+ community mean to you?
“Being part of the LGBTQIA+ community for me means feeling empowered to be authentically myself and proud of who I am. It also means standing up for equal opportunities, challenging stereotypes, and contributing to a more diverse and inclusive society.”
Silvio Di Feo
MSc Strategic Marketing
What does being part of the LGBTQIA+ community mean to you?
“In the heart of the LGBTQIA+ community, I am filled with pride not only because my presence adds another hue to the inherently colourful spectrum of this world, making me proud to be who I am, but also because I find an empowering sense of purpose to uplift and support those around me.”
Amber Liu
MSc International Management
What does being part of the LGBTQIA+ community mean to you?
“For me, being part of the LGBTQ+ community is akin to embarking on a journey into space. Every rock, shade, and moment of doubt presents an opportunity to realise our limited knowledge and that each step is a chance to learn.”
Ayrton Andre
MSc Business Analytics
What does being part of the LGBTQIA+ community mean to you?
“Frankly speaking, LGBTQIA+ community is my comfort zone to look for my people - being a part of it feels like having another home. A sense of belonging has grown and rooted in me. It’s where we embrace each and every individual, celebrate diversity and cultivate inclusiveness in society. I’m constantly impressed by the unique charisma and liveness of this very community.”
Chong Hu
MSc Climate Change, Management & Finance
What does being part of the LGBTQIA+ community mean to you?
“Being part of the LGBTQIA+ community is, to me, freedom. Freedom to be myself and to live an authentic life, without having to hide any parts of me. I'm very grateful to have others around me that make me feel accepted and give me a sense of true belonging.”
