The Joan Woodward Lecture Series, was set up in memory of the late Professor Joan Woodward, the second ever female professor at Imperial College London who continues to be a role model for women in science, engineering, and technology. The event series is an opportunity to commemorate the legacy of Joan Woodward at Imperial, whilst simultaneously discussing this year’s International Women’s Day theme ‘Break the Bias’.

Keynote speaker Dame Vivian Hunt, Managing Partner at McKinsey & Company, is named as one of the top ten 'most influential black people in Britain' by the Powerlist Foundation, and The Financial Times identified her both as one of the 'European Women to Watch' and 'one of the 30 most influential people in the City of London'. She will discuss this year’s International Women's Day theme, ‘Break the Bias’, along with challenges she has faced and how she has overcome them throughout her career.

Imperial alumnus Faith Ruto and Vice Dean, Education, Leila Guerra will then join to host a Q&A followed by a networking reception.
