Interested in our BSc Economics, Finance and Data Science course or related subject areas?

Join Professor Richard Green for an Imperial taster lecture on The Price of Power.

How are electricity prices set? In Great Britain, the price at which energy companies buy and sell power among themselves changes every half-hour, but what does this depend on? How does it feed in to the price that the average household has to pay? As the UK gets more and more of its electricity from renewable sources like wind power and solar PV, how is this affecting the pattern of electricity prices?

Professor Richard Green, who has been studying the British electricity market since it was first created, will talk about how electricity is traded and how it affects the answers to these questions.

This is an online subject taster lecture taking place on Monday 4th March 2024 at 4pm (UK time). Sign up below to receive the Zoom link!
