Leadership and team building

Student leadership is a core part of extra-curricular activities at Imperial College Business School. Student leaders work to improve overall student experience, with a focus on innovation, collaboration and excellence. Leading their teams, they organise a broad portfolio of events across the academic year, including talks, networking events, conferences and social events.

Shape change: Dean’s Student Advisory Council

We offer a range of leadership opportunities. Work in partnership with us to make a valuable impact on your programme, across the Business School community and Imperial College.

The Dean's Student Advisory Council bring together representatives of our 1,400 Business School students and our senior leadership team to examine how to improve our student community and society.

Together you will work to identify common challenges and opportunities across programmes, lead school-wide innovation and build a strong, cohesive community.

Student Leadership Day

This day is an opportunity for leaders across Careers Clubs, the Dean’s Student Advisory Council and Student Ambassadors to team-up and make a difference. The aim is to improve all aspects of the student experience and offer a broad portfolio of talks, conferences, networking and social events.

The day itself includes interactive leadership training and introduction to the Business School mission: to have a positive impact on each other and society.

Conferences – you take the lead

Feel passionate about your subject? Students can shape their own conference agenda here. We give you the opportunity to bid and host your own conference to students and industry professionals.

Inspired? Successful bids are given a budget to host the event. Our 2019 student conference programme included:

  • ‘Future X’ a shift in the technological paradigm

  • ‘Sustainable Impact Investing’ defining financial responsibility in a changing world

A highlight of my time at Imperial College Business School has been my role as Chair of the Student-Staff Committee of the cohort. In this position, I have the chance to grow my leadership skills and help my fellow students with any problems they face in their studies. Having a positive impact on the experience of my cohort and helping when needed has been rewarding and allows me to grow personally.
