What you'll need to think about
Some of the events alumni have held over the past few years have included networking drinks, fancy dinners and lunches, walks, online panel discussions, cultural and sport events, or family friendly gatherings - but it's really up to you.
This year, we'd love you to incorporate one of the themes of Imperial's School of Convergence into your event. This could be as simple as inviting a speaker, running a workshop or activity, or putting a themed twist on a social gathering. The themes are:
How we can help:
We’re here to answer any questions you have and to help make your event a success. We will:
- promote your event on social media
- set up a registration page to help you manage attendance
- publish your event on our website
- share your event in our events newsletter to all alumni
- send a targeted email invitation to alumni in your region with details of your event
- post you a special Global Celebrations pack including decorations and gifts
- share your photos and celebrations with the wider alumni community.
When do you want to hold your event? The Great Exhibition Road Festival take place in London on 7 and 8 June 2026. Global Celebration events should be as close as possible to these dates.
- Please email the Alumni Groups inbox by 26 April 2026 to confirm that you will be taking part in Global Celebrations 2026.
- To make sure we have enough time to share your event with the alumni community, you will need to complete our form (see below) to confirm details such as date, time and venue at least six weeks before your event.
We're delighted to offer funding support to alumni groups hosting events as part of Global Celebrations 2026. The main criterion for funding is that the event needs to be aligned with a theme of Imperial’s School of Convergence Science
Applications will be assessed against the following criteria:
- Strategic alignment: Alignment with Imperial’s Science for Humanity strategy, and a theme connected to one of the School of Convergence Science areas:
- Benefit to the alumni community: Demonstrated value through activities such as:
- Professional development opportunities
- Sector-specific networking
- Community building
- Engagement of recent graduates
- Feasibility and impact: A clear and realistic delivery plan, including defined objectives, intended outcomes, and identified target audience.
- Effective use of funds: A clear, itemised, and cost-effective budget that prioritises high-impact and low-cost delivery.
- Inclusivity and accessibility: Consideration of inclusive practices, such as hybrid or virtual access, and appropriate accessibility arrangements for in-person events.
- Funding can be used towards:
- Venue hire
- Catering
- Speaker fees
- Travel expenses
- Audio-visual support
- Promotional materials
- Application Timeline:
- Application deadline: Sunday 3 May 2026.
- Review period: Applications will be reviewed by two representatives from the Alumni Engagement team.
- Notification of outcome: Applicants will receive feedback and funding decisions by mid-May 2026.
