Applications for the Full-Time MBA are made through our online application system, which gives you the flexibility to complete your application in your own time and save your progress. The form includes questions about you, your career and your educational history to date.
You can select two programmes to be considered for each academic year. The two programmes must be the same type of Master’s programme - i.e. both MSc, both MBA or MRes.
You will also need to provide the following in support of your application:
Career planning questions
In the career planning questions you will need to show you have thought about the type of employer you want to work for immediately after graduating and have researched your target organisation(s) and role. You will also need to demonstrate you have the necessary skills and experience to succeed in your chosen role. If planning to set up your own business, you will need to outline what expertise or product your business will deliver and that you have researched the market. Whilst we want our students to hit the ground running, we understand that you will also be looking to develop gaps in your skillset to prepare for your chosen career and you will need to address this in the career planning questions.
Application processing fee
To submit an application, you will need to pay an application processing fee of £125.
If you are in receipt of a Chevening Scholarship you are not required to pay the application processing fee. Please notify the Admissions team prior to submitting your application.
Contact details of two referees
You will need to provide the contact details of two professional referees. When you submit your form, the online application system will send an automatic reference request directly to their professional email accounts so they can submit their recommendation letter quickly and efficiently online.
Your referees should be individuals who are best placed to discuss your suitability for an MBA programme based on your performance and achievements at work, your strengths and areas for development, and your future potential – ideally including one from your current or a recent line manager.
Complete degree transcripts
You will need to submit electronic copies of your full degree transcripts and certificates (with English translations if necessary) for any degrees you have completed, or relevant professional qualifications.
Transcripts should include: details of all of the modules studied on the degree, your marks for each, and the overall mark, grade or classification that you achieved if you have completed your studies. If you have studied more than one degree level programme please upload a complete set of transcripts for each qualification.
GMAT or GRE results
If you have already taken the GMAT or GRE, you should upload a copy of your results and request your score to be released to Imperial College Business School. This will enable us to verify your results online, so you should not send a hard copy unless we request it.
To submit your score online, you must request for it to be shared with Imperial College Business School. Our GMAT code is S22-7S-16 and our GRE code is 0121.
If you have not yet taken GMAT or GRE, please include details of your planned test date on the application form and ensure that you contact the Admissions team once your score is available.
Your personal statement provides an opportunity to demonstrate your suitability for the Full-Time MBA programme. Typically your personal statement should be one side of A4 and include your motivations for applying to Imperial and the MBA, and any other supporting information not included elsewhere on the form that you feel will enhance your application.
You must include a full and up-to-date curriculum vitae (CV) – we do not require that you use a particular format, but a CV template is available here for your convenience.
Scholarship supporting documents (if applicable)
A number of our available scholarships require you to submit your GMAT score, essay question answers, and/or answers to specific questions alongside your application, before the scholarship deadline.
If you would like to be considered for one of our scholarships, please check the individual scholarships pages on our website for further information on scholarship application requirements.
English language test results (if applicable)
If English is not your native language, you may be required to take an English language test (see above for accepted tests and required scores). You should upload a scanned copy of your English language certificate.
You may submit your application form before you have obtained English language test results. Please include details if you have a planned test date on the application form and ensure that you contact the Admissions team once your score is available.
If your application is successful, you will be invited to a Skype interview with a member of the Admissions Committee. The interview will last approximately 30 - 40 minutes and will be conducted within the published interview week(s) for the application round in which you applied.
You will also be required to complete a short career interview via our Kira online video platform. The interview is made up of three short questions and should take no more than 15 minutes to complete. You will need to complete your career interview by midday (UK time) on the final Friday of the interview week(s) for the round in which you applied.
After your interview, your full application and interview performance will be assessed by the Admissions Committee. If you are successful, we will make you a conditional offer of admission for the programme. You will be notified of the outcome of your application by email no later than the published decision date for the application round that you have applied for. You will be able to log in to our online portal to respond to your offer, view full details of your conditions and pay your 10% deposit for the programme.
