A number of personalised services are provided before you start and throughout your time at the Business School to support you in securing a successful job in the finance sector.
Online career modules
You will begin your journey with Careers before you start the programme, with access to a wide suite of online career modules. These modules will help you develop your career strategy, understand how to effectively market yourself and ultimately find a career that is perfect for you. Hints and tips from recruiters and current students will help maximise your chance of finding your ideal job.
The Foundations for Careers Success online module accelerates your career development and ensures you are ready to work with Careers as soon as you set foot on campus. You will examine your key skills, interests, values and motivators and learn how to use that knowledge to build a CV. After uploading your CV using our template, you will be ready to hit the ground running in September.
The Finance Careers Primer online module helps you prepare for roles in the finance sector. It will give you an overview of career options within the sector, help define your application strategy and give you the tools to develop your market knowledge and commercial awareness.
Finance Careers Track
When you join the programme in September, you will begin the Finance Careers Track which allows you to explore the financial sector and its recruitment market. The track includes practical careers sessions, providing you with the necessary skills to successfully complete your finance graduate job applications.
Throughout the year you will have access to our team of expert Careers Consultants, who will support your career development and help you find your dream job. A range of one-to-one and small group appointments are available offering the following services:
- Career planning to identify your skills and strengths and refine your career strategy
- Reviewing your CV and cover letters to ensure you are presenting yourself in the best possible way
- Practicing your ‘pitch’ or improving your LinkedIn profile
- Mock interviewing to gain specific feedback on your interview technique
- Case study or case interview practice sessions using example questions that will be used by the employer
- Technical interview preparation
- Guidance on how to negotiate job offers
Your Careers support does not end when you graduate, you can continue to call upon our Careers Consultants as an alumnus.
Connecting with employers
Our Employer Relations team is responsible for building and developing sustainable relationships with top employers that our students aspire to work for. We pride ourselves on offering a first-class service to our corporate contacts, students and alumni, and host a number of events to help students gain the commercial awareness they will require to be successful through the assessment process and beyond.
We work closely with a number of large employers such as Amazon, Apple, Morgan Stanley, Dyson, McKinsey, LVMH, Kraft-Heinz, and JP Morgan, alongside small and medium-sized firms and start-ups.

Industry-specific careers fairs
We hold a number of careers fairs such as the Consulting & Finance and Corporate & Technology fairs, which provide you with the opportunity to network with representatives from companies in your chosen sector to gain further insight into their organisation.

The Business School supports a number of student-led clubs which bring together students with similar areas of career interest and/or professional backgrounds. These provide opportunities to learn from and network with students, alumni and other professionals, as well as build links with relevant employers in the sector and learn about the type of roles available and the skills needed.
