Imperial College London participates in Jisc’s Read & Publish agreement with the Geological Society (Lyell Collection). The agreement provides institutional read access to the Lyell Collection and unlimited open‑access publication for eligible articles in the listed Lyell Collection journals and book series. Coverage applies to manuscripts submitted on or after 1 January 2022.

  • Licence: CC BY by default where the publisher applies it; the publisher will confirm licence at acceptance and will support funder licence requirements.
  • Compliance: Supports repository and funder deposition requirements (publisher will confirm PMC/Europe PMC handling at acceptance).

Eligibility

  • Article type: All article types are eligible for open‑access publishing in the included hybrid journals, hybrid book series, the fully open‑access journal Earth Science, Systems and Society, and the fully open‑access book series GeoHorizons.
  • Submission date: Manuscripts submitted on or after 1 January 2022.
  • Corresponding author: Must be affiliated with Imperial College London and use an institutional email address.

Author workflow

  1. Submit as normal, listing Imperial College London as the corresponding author’s affiliation and using an institutional email.
  2. On acceptance the publisher checks submission date and corresponding author affiliation to determine eligibility.
  3. If eligible, the publisher invites the corresponding author to confirm affiliation and licence (publisher confirms licence; CC BY is typically applied where required).
  4. Eligible articles are published OA with no additional APC charged to the author under this agreement.
  5. If not eligible or if the author opts out, normal APC or subscription routes apply.
