- What really matters in research?
- What practices and behaviours lead to the highest-quality research?
- How can we recognise and incentivise those good practices?
These are some of the questions we’ve been asking in a Library-led, university-wide project on enhancing research culture since January 2024.
The first phase of the project looked at the challenges and opportunities of embedding transparency, quality and scrutiny into the research data life cycle.
Discover the workshops
We ran a series of workshops from April to July 2024. We involved researchers, professional staff and the public to scope out the challenges and co-create practical solutions.

Workshops
You can have the best systems, practices and processes you like, but if they’re not linked to the culture in which you do your work, then you'll never be able to focus on quality.
Semi-structured interviews from the project
We complemented the workshops with a series of semi-structured interviews with subject experts in research culture and assessment, public applications of research data, and data quality and transparency.
