Imperial College London participates in the RCGP Read & Publish (transitional) agreement. The agreement provides institutional read access to BJGP and unlimited open‑access publication for eligible research articles in British Journal of General Practice (BJGP) (hybrid) and BJGP Open (fully OA). Coverage applies to research articles accepted on or after 17 May 2023.

What’s included

  • Journals: British Journal of General Practice (hybrid) and BJGP Open (fully OA).
  • Read access: Full institutional access to the BJGP collection; perpetual access rights for content included in the licensed collection.
  • Publish element: Unlimited OA publishing of eligible research articles for corresponding authors at participating institutions.
  • Licence: CC BY by default; articles remain © The Authors.
  • Compliance: Supports PMC/Europe PMC deposition and funder licence requirements.

Eligibility

  • Article type: Research articles (BJGP) and Research & Protocols (BJGP Open).
  • Acceptance date: on or after 17 May 2023.
  • Corresponding author: must be affiliated with Imperial College London (or another participating institution).

Author workflow

  1. Submit as normal, listing Imperial College London as the corresponding author’s affiliation.
  2. On acceptance the publisher checks corresponding author affiliation and acceptance date to determine eligibility.
  3. If eligible, the publisher invites the corresponding author to confirm affiliation and licence (CC BY applied by default).
  4. Eligible articles are published OA with no additional APC charged to the author under this agreement.
  5. If not eligible or if the author opts out, normal APC or subscription routes apply.

Article types not covered

Editorials, letters, commentaries, invited/commissioned pieces, corrections, case reports and other non‑research content. (Non‑research items may be eligible for zero‑embargo Green OA under BJGP’s policy.)
