Imperial College Business School is proud to be a global organisation with students from all over the world. To encourage this further, we are offering scholarships to African students who we believe would contribute to the Imperial community.

Applicants who are resident in one of the 54 African countries (as defined by the United Nations) will automatically be considered.

The Black Future Leaders Scholarship is available to applicants demonstrating an outstanding track record of leadership and/or leadership potential. Imperial College London is pleased to announce the British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM.

In partnership with the British Council, Imperial College London is offering five scholarships for female students studying on an eligible programme from one of the countries listed in the eligibility section.

The scholarships have been created with the aim to help address the under-representation of women in STEM. Applicants will be required to demonstrate their financial need and how they would inspire future generations of women to pursue a career in STEM.

Each scholarship covers full tuition fees, an annual stipend of up to £18,192, and a return economy-class flight from home country to UK. It also covers other related costs including an accepted English language proficiency test exam fee* (*only if an English language test is required as part of the offer of admissions), visa application and NHS surcharge. 

To apply for British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM, you must:

  • Be a passport holder and permanent resident of Egypt.
  • Be available to commence your academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September/October 2023.
  • Have submitted an application to study at Imperial College London before your scholarship application can be considered and have received an offer to study for one of the eligible programmes by the time selection takes place to be considered for a scholarship. It is expected that selection will take place shortly after the scholarship deadline.
  • Have completed your undergraduate degree or have all components of an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a postgraduate programme at Imperial College London and meet the academic entry requirement for admissions before the start of the UK academic year in September/October 2023.
  • Have not previously studied at degree level or higher in the UK or lived recently in the UK.
  • Meet the English language requirement for your programme at Imperial College London. Applicants who are awarded this scholarship will be required to have met College English entry requirements (Pre-sessional English courses are not supported by this programme) by 30 June 2023.

How to apply

Once you have received an offer from Admissions for your programme, you can apply for the scholarship here on the Imperial College London website. The deadline to apply to the scholarship is 11.59 (GMT) Wednesday 5 April.

  • Return to the country of your citizenship for a minimum of two years after your course/scholarship has finished.
  • Demonstrate active in the field with work experience or with a proven interest in the programme area you are applying for.
  • Demonstrate that you are willing to contribute in the future to capacity-building and socio-economic advancement through the benefits achieved after graduating from Imperial College London and returning your home country.
  • Demonstrate in your application a plan and passion to engage other women and girls in STEM from your home country.

In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, Imperial College London is offering eight scholarships to students from Egypt, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Thailand applying for postgraduate courses in Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine and Business subjects.

The scholarship programme offers financial support of £10,000 to students pursuing one-year postgraduate study at Imperial.

All eligible applicants holding a valid passport of Egypt, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Thailand will be invited to apply for a GREAT scholarship if they receive an offer to study at Imperial by Monday, 13 March 2023.

In addition to the above eligibility, applicants who are awarded this scholarship will be required to have met College English entry requirements (Pre-sessional English courses are not supported by this programme) by 30 June 2023.   • Your course is an online/distance learning course
  • The duration of your course is longer than one year (please note, applicants for MSc Business Analytics (online, part-time) and MSc Strategic Marketing (online, part-time) are not eligible for this scholarship)

How to apply

Stage 1: Apply for a one-year full-time Master's course at Imperial College London

You must submit an application for a master’s course through the standard College application procedure and have an offer of admission by the deadline of 11:59 pm (UK local time), Monday, 13 March 2023.

Stage 2: Eligible candidates will be invited to apply for the scholarship

During the week commencing 20 March 2023, eligible students who have received an offer of admission to study at the College for 2023 entry will be contacted via email and invited to complete a GREAT Scholarship application form.

  • Have been classified as Overseas for fee status
  • Apply for a one-year full-time Master's course

  • Be available to commence your academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September/October 2023

Bursaries and fee waivers available for September 2023 entry

£100 covering application fee

We are delighted to support talented students by offering Bright Network members an application fee waiver. Please note the waiver covers the £100 application fee, but applicants are still required to pay full tuition fees. If you are already a member of the Bright Network, please email us at business.school@imperial.ac.uk with your name to request your discount code. If you are not yet a member of the Bright Network, please sign up, where you will also be given the discount code.

Please note: The waiver must be requested before you submit your application, and cannot be retrospectively applied.

We welcome applications from Imperial College London alumni. We offer a 10% bursary on tuition fees to successful candidates with an undergraduate degree from Imperial awarded at a minimum of Upper Second Class Honours, or Master’s degree awarded with a minimum of Merit.

How to apply

Imperial College London students or alumni who submit their MSc programme application before the below deadline and receive an offer for the programme will automatically receive this award.

We cannot guarantee the availability of Imperial Loyalty Bursaries for applications received after the deadline.

  • An undergraduate degree from Imperial awarded at a minimum of Upper Second Class Honours, or Master’s degree awarded with a minimum of Merit. Candidates who are currently in their final year will be assessed on their marks to date & predicted performance

If you are offered an Imperial College Business School scholarship or Imperial Loyalty Bursary and are subsequently offered a larger award by us, the larger one would supersede the first award and would not be in addition to it.

Scholarships awarded by Imperial College Business School are in the form of a reduction of the tuition fee. Therefore, if you receive another scholarship that pays the full tuition fee directly to the College, you cannot also receive a scholarship from the Business School.
