Summary

We aim to evaluate mental health impacts of HS2 construction around Euston station in London. We initially surveyed, in the summer of 2019, a sample of residents living around the station before major works began, and in a control area not affected by major construction. We are now working on administering a follow up survey to the same respondents and to a larger pool of residents in the same areas. Any change in self-perceived mental health outcomes will be assessed and compared in control and exposure areas in difference in differences analyses to attribute changes to construction. Analyses will account for noise and air pollution measurements conducted by HS2 Ltd, as well as socio-demographic information and self-perceptions of noise,  housing and neighbourhood conditions, physical health and life style factors.
