Your time at Imperial College Business School

Why did you choose to study your programme and why specifically at Imperial College Business School?

I had the unique and unconventional opportunity to start and run a fruit and vegetable wholesale business concurrently while pursuing my undergraduate degree. The experience was nothing short of invaluable and helped me to realise that I lacked the necessary business acumen. After arriving in London for the first time in 2017, I was amazed by the city and decided that I would want to further my studies in London. While researching for a suitable programme, I came across Imperial College Business School’s MSc Management programme. I decided to study MSc Management due to its well-tailored curriculum, the highly diverse cohort, and the many positive reviews about the programme.

"I decided to study MSc Management due to its well-tailored curriculum, the highly diverse cohort, and the many positive reviews about the programme."

What was the most important learning point you took with you from the Business School? And the most surprising thing about the programme?

The most important thing that I took with me from the Business School is not to be afraid of failures and to step out of my comfort zone. The most surprising thing about the programme was the high level of engagement between my professors and the class.

What advice would you give to a prospective student considering studying the same programme as you?

Reach out to the alumni community, current students, or a staff at Imperial College Business School to find out more about what your experience could be. Lastly, take that leap of faith because I’m sure you will enjoy your time in Imperial!

Tell us about your current job

How has your programme contributed to your career success?

Attending the programme has not only allowed me to gain the necessary acumen but also provided me with the opportunity to work with people from various nationalities, cultures, and backgrounds, in return developing my interpersonal skills.

How do you plan to use the skills and knowledge you gained during the programme within your career going forward?

I plan to use the knowledge gained from my entrepreneurship and strategic management classes to help grow Singapore’s local space startups, eventually developing a space ecosystem in Singapore. I believe that the skills and knowledge I have gained during the programme will continue to be refined throughout my career, allowing me to achieve success in the future.

What do you enjoy most about your current work?

Since joining OSTIn, I benefited from a steep learning curve in both the technical and business aspect. I enjoyed the opportunity to work with people from various backgrounds that includes startup founders and researchers.

What are the most exciting/difficult challenges facing your sector currently?

One of the biggest challenges in the space sector is space debris mitigation. As the number of satellites in space increases, so will the risk of collision between satellites, creating hundreds of thousands of shards of dangerous debris, which will prove disastrous if they hit something else.

What is your proudest achievement in the job so far?

I am proud to have been tasked and successfully developed the internal process for administering grants under the Satellite Technology Development Programme (STDP).

Alumni community

In what way is remaining connected to your alumni network important to you?

Being connected to my alumni network allows me to access new opportunities and different insights into various industries.

I've shared my experience and advised prospective and current students on their applications and career choices. I have benefited in multiple ways during my time at Imperial and am motivated to give back to the Imperial community in as many ways as possible.
