Training overview

This course allows you to gain insight and skills in assessing and addressing the needs of LGBTQ+ staff/students with mental health issues. You will also gain confidence in dealing with heterosexism, homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia. 

The course promotes an understanding of LGBTQ+ mental health, what’s different and why, and allows you to explore nuanced inclusion topics and their connection to LGBTQ+ identities. It will deepen your awareness of trans issues and trans care pathways, and share examples of affirmative practice interventions and best practices.

Who is this course for?

This course is open to all staff members. It is particularly recommended for Mental Health First Aiders who wish to upskill and deepen their awareness of how LGBTQ+ issues can intersect with mental health.
