Feedback response

Wellbeing love

We received a lot of love for our newly opened Wellbeing Room on Level 4 of the Abdus Salam Library and we are so happy that you appreciate the space.

We received a request for more wellbeing rooms and also a larger prayer room. Two large prayers rooms opened just outside the Level 4 Student Space back in the Autumn.

More study spaces / more seats

We received several comments about lack of space in the Abdus Salam Library and requests for more study desks.

The Abdus Salam Library is one of many buildings included in the Imperial's South Kensington Redevelopment Programme, modernising key campus spaces to support excellence in education, research, enterprise, and public engagement, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of our students, staff, and the wider community.

Better maintained / working toilets

The toilets are regularly cleaned and inspected, and any reported faults attended to by the Imperial Estates department.

If you find any toilet in an unacceptable condition, please email the Facilities helpdesk eo.csc@imperial.ac.uk or report it to one of our attendants who will arrange for a cleaner or someone from the Estates department to attend urgently.

Pens, paper and stationery

We received several requests asking to borrow or purchase pens, paper and stationery in the library. We have pens, mechanical pencils and notepads available at the Information Hub in the entrance of the Abdus Salam Library for anyone who needs them – they are free and you can keep them.

We also lend headphones, a variety of scientific calculators and whiteboard pens.

Microwaves

We received some requests for microwaves in the Abdus Salam Library.

There are currently no plans for this, but a number of microwaves are available in the GoStudy spaces and level 4 Student Space kitchens.

Imperial also provides location information for microwaves across all campuses.

More fiction books and more non-STEM non-fiction books

We have greatly expanded our recreational and non-fiction collections in the past few years. The collections include print books, e-books and audio books. Many of the e-books and audio books are available via the Libby app which is free to use for all Imperial students and staff.

Our collections are carefully curated and include bestsellers, prize-winning fiction, timeless classics, history, health and wellbeing, and titles in Spanish, French, German and Italian.

We are very happy to receive recommendations. If there are titles that you would like to see added to our collections you can Ask the Library to buy a new item.
