Consultation guidelines
Guidelines for the consulation of items in the Library's special collections
The below guidelines are available for users in the special collections consultation area:
- Items should be handled with clean dry hands
- Photocopying of items must comply with UK Copyright legislation
- Eating and drinking is not permitted when consulting special collections material
- Do not place items on the floor
- Do not lean, rest or write on top of collection items
- Do not use pens or highlighters to write on or mark items
- Use pencils for note taking or use a computer
- Do not touch the text or image on the page
- Do not fold over the corners of pages
- Do not inset bookmarks or attach notes (e.g. post-it notes) to collection items
- Use acid-free paper slips to mark pages and follow text
- No flash photography please
When making copies, we suggest that you copy no more than 5% or one chapter from a book and one article from a journal issue.
