As a student it is important that you understand copyright and how it is relevant to your studies.
Join this interactive workshop to learn about copyright. We will discuss how to identify and deal with common copyright issues in digital learning environments in the course of your studies.
We will also cover Creative Commons licences and how to interpret and use them when creating or re-using content available online.
Following the workshop you will be able to apply fair dealing principles and use the exceptions in the UK Copyright Act when needing to use copyrighted content in your academic assignments.
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- learn about what Copyright protects and how long it lasts according to the UK Copyright legislation
- identify how the Copyright Act allows students to re-use 3rd party content without permission in educational contexts according to different exceptions in the Law
- learn about the different Creative Commons Licenses, what they allow you to do and how to apply them to the audiovisual content you may produce
