This workshop will introduce you to verifying AI outputs when searching for academic literature.
We will practice treating AI generated literature search results as claims to verify rather than authoritative answers.
We will look at dialogic prompting to clarify claims and identify limitations in academic literature retrieved by an AI tool.
The workshop will include how to check sources, trace claims to original publications, identify fabricated or misleading citations, and make decisions about whether information is suitable for academic work.
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- explain why AI-generated literature search outputs require verification
- identify common warning signs in AI-generated academic information
- practice using dialogic prompts to make your AI searching more efficient
- verify whether a cited publication exists and whether its metadata is accurate
