Key information
- What is overseas working?
- Future overseas working requests
- Current (or recent) overseas working
- Business travel
Overseas working is the undertaking of any day-to-day work duties in a country that is not your contracted country of employment for any period of time: whether extending a conference trip to work remotely, collaborating with international partners on shared research projects, or contributing to Imperial’s Strategic Global Vision.
Read about what overseas working includes.
For guidance and resources on all types of overseas working requests, please visit our future overseas working request page. You will find information for staff, Line Managers and Final Approvers including the link to submit an overseas working request.
It is important that we work with staff whose current overseas working arrangements were not facilitated by the International Mobility Team, to ensure that Imperial is upholding its duty of care, while also addressing any legal, regulatory, or compliance requirements.
If you are currently working overseas (or have done so in the previous 12 months) and did not submit an overseas working request, you should complete the International Mobility Footprint questionnaire for an up-to-date assessment.
Business travel (a business trip) is typically defined as travelling to another country to attend a conference or meeting, generally a couple of days in duration, with travel being booked via Egencia and with expenses being submitted to cover costs.
