The Leadership in Practice Programme is the updated and expanded evolution of Imperial's highly regarded Heads of Department Leadership Development Programme. Building on the success of the original programme, it has been redesigned to reflect the diverse ways leadership is exercised across the university today.
At Imperial, leadership extends beyond formal titles and organisational structures. Colleagues lead through expertise, influence, collaboration and the ability to bring people together to achieve shared goals. Whether leading a team, managing a complex project, directing a research centre, driving a strategic initiative, or working across institutional boundaries, effective leadership is essential to success.
Who is it for?
The programme is designed for colleagues who are developing or strengthening their leadership in practice, including those taking on leadership responsibilities for the first time and those working in complex roles where influence, collaboration and stakeholder engagement are critical. It provides a supportive environment to explore the challenges and opportunities of leadership within a world-leading university.
Participants will develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to lead effectively in a complex and evolving environment, with opportunities to reflect on their own leadership approach and learn alongside peers from across Imperial.
