Overview

AI-driven automation is one of four new AI Academy programmes designed to equip staff with the technical skills and confidence to use Artificial Intelligence. This programme is for staff who work with processes, systems, automation, or data and who will have responsibility for creating and managing automations using AI. Delivered over 16 months, the course will deepen your knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and allow you to design and oversee systems that enhance productivity, streamline processes, and support continuous improvement. Key themes include:

  • Fundamentals of agentic workflows and traditional automations
  • Building responsible, practical, ethical and safe AI implementations
  • Designing, configuring, monitoring and reporting on AI systems

Delivery will include 13 hands-on, live virtual workshops led by experienced automation and AI practitioners, helping learners to apply automation, AI agents, and workflow solutions to real workplace scenarios. You will also attend monthly 1-1 sessions with a Corndel coach, undertake guided self-learning, and complete bite-sized practical projects. The learning is complemented by a special masterclass programme delivered by Imperial academics on themes such as Scaling Generative AI and Digital Transformation. As such, this course is a unique opportunity to access leading-edge thinking in Artificial Intelligence and technology.

Who should attend

This programme is geared towards staff who already work with processes, systems, automation, or data and wish to deepen their knowledge in generative and agentic AI solutions. It would suit learners in operational, systems, data, and financial roles across a wide range of functions.

You do not need to be an AI specialist to participate, but you should have responsibility for improving workflows, systems or operational processes and be looking to develop expertise in AI-powered automation.

Corndel will assess suitability during the application process to ensure that learners are in roles where they can apply the learning, meet learning outcomes and fully maximise the value of this programme.

Eligibility

Applicants should:

  • Be working in a role where you oversee processes, systems, automation, or data, and that will require you to create and manage automations using AI. Corndel will assess the suitability of your work role during the application process.
  • Have approval from your line manager to participate.
  • Be ready to commit to the minimum learning requirement (approximately one day per week) and discuss with your manager how this can be balanced with operational demands.
  • Have enough time remaining on your contract of employment to complete the programme in full (at least 19 months from the course start date).
  • Have the right to work in the UK for the full duration of your programme and an eligible residency status (please refer to Annex A: Residency Eligibility Criteria in the Apprenticeship Funding Rules for further information).
  • Not currently be receiving any other direct/indirect funding from the Department for Education (e.g. student finance).
