How to apply
Our halls are open for Academic Year 2020/21.
A complete overview of the amended process for 2020/21 is available below.
Offers and induction
Last updated Thursday 3 September - If you applied for accommodation by July 31, we will begin sending out accommodation offers from Tuesday 8 September. Once you have received your offer, you will have 3 days to either accept or decline your offer. If you do choose to decline your offer, we won't be able to provide you with an alternative. Whilst we will do our best to match you with one of your preferences, it is not always possible. Please note our College undergraduate guarantee is for a bed space, not a particular hall or room type.
Our offers are sent out in batches across the entire week; please do not panic if you don't receive your offer immediately. If you haven't received an offer by Tuesday 15 September, please get in touch with the Student Hub. We ask that you do not contact the Student Hub prior to Tuesday 15 September.
With the release of adjusted grades and the subsequent reopening of our admissions process, our first year cohort will be larger than usual and, in order to support this, we will be adding additional halls of residence to our standard portfolio. Although it is likely that this will be in halls not directly managed by the College, we will be working to ensure Imperial students are able to enjoy the same experiences as residents in other halls.
Centre Assessed Grades (CAGs)
Last updated Thursday 3 September - For any student that has had their offer updated via Centre Assessed Grades (CAGs), we are endeavouring to provide you with accommodation. It is likely that we will be able to provide accommodation for everyone but, due to the developing nature of the situation, we cannot absolutely guarantee it at this time.
We know that you're eager to confirm your accommodation and we intend to support you in every way we can. If we are able to provide you accommodation, you will receive your offer beginning Tuesday 8 September and no later than Tuesday 15 September. We ask that you do not contact the Student Hub prior to Tuesday 15 September.
Your accommodation application journey
Early July 2020 - you will receive an invite to apply (if Imperial is your firm choice)
Applicants who have firmly accepted an academic offer (regardless of whether you have a conditional offer or an unconditional offer) from the College will receive an email invite to apply for accommodation using our online system - Accommodation Hub (AccHub). You can select 5 accommodation preferences* specifying your preferred hall, room type and price.
*IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE 5 PREFERENCES:
- Please be advised that your five preferences are EQUALLY ranked, and cannot be distinguished in order of highest to lowest preference
- Please note that you can only choose one single room and one twin room per hall
- Once the form is submitted, you cannot make any changes to it. Please ensure you are happy with your preferences before submitting the application
- Although we can guarantee you a bed space we are unfortunately not able to guarantee one of your preferences. We do, however, endeavour to try and match you with one of your five preferences as best we can
31 July 2020 - last date to apply to be guaranteed a place in our accommodation
You must apply no later than 31 July 2020 to be guaranteed a place* in our accommodation. Once you've applied, you will get an acknowledgement email to confirm that your application has been received.
* As an undergraduate student you are guaranteed a place in Imperial College London accommodation for your first year of study if you meet the terms and conditions.
3 August 2020 - you will receive an invite to apply (if Imperial is your insurance choice)
If you have made Imperial your Insurance choice, you will be emailed the ‘Invitation to Apply for Accommodation' from Monday 3 August 2020. Unfortunately you are not guaranteed accommodation, however if we can't offer you a place in one of our halls of residence, we'll provide you with advice and guidance on how to find accommodation in the private sector.
Early September 2020 - receiving your accommodation offer
All applications will be processed and rooms allocated.
A-level results day is Thursday 13 August 2020. Those who have an unconditional academic offer will receive an accommodation offer in early September.
When you receive your accommodation offer, you'll also receive your 'Licence to Occupy' which states your hall and room type. Please note that a room number will not be included in the Licence as this will be provided on your first invoice.
September 2020 - accepting your offer and complete compulsory online induction
Candidates who have secured a place in university accommodation will be notified of their offer by email. Offers must be accepted by the date specified in the email.
What happens if I don't want to accept the accommodation I have been offered?"
If you do not wish to accept the offer, you will be able to reject this online. You will be asked to provide a reason why. This will enable us to reallocate the room. We regret that this is the only offer we can make and if you reject it, it is unlikely that we will be able to make an alternative offer.
You will receive an email inviting you to complete an e-induction before you arrive. The induction contains all the useful information about your halls, move in arrangements, what to pack and much more.
3 October 2020 - moving in
