The Academic Promotions Committee supports the recognition and reward of excellence across Imperial's academic community. Academic promotion recognises achievement, leadership and impact in research, education, clinical practice, enterprise and institutional citizenship.
Applications must be submitted via the Academic Promotions Application Form. Candidates and Heads of Department are expected to review the guidance documents and supporting resources below before submitting an application.
The Resources section includes role descriptions, guidance documents and a Word version of the application form to support preparation.
The Briefing section details the four sessions to be hosted by the Associate Provost (Academic Promotions), Jonathan Mestel, some of the Imperial Consuls and representatives from the People Function. These will provide an overview of the process and answer questions from all interested parties, especially prospective applicants.

Your department must submit a folder of supporting documents by 29 January 2027. If you are teaching in the Autumn term, you may obtain student feedback after the deadline (MEQ or other data). You should send any such data to the HoD by 29 January 2027. If this data is not available until after the deadline, you may present a summary at the interview.
