Arriving to halls
2022 arrivals
Last updated 22 September 2022
Please note: We are still working on the final details for arriving to halls for 2022 and the information below is subject to change. Please keep referring back to this page for the latest updates.
We look forward to welcoming you to your new home.
Arrival day is Saturday 1 October 2022. As part of your e-induction, which you will be asked to complete after you have received your accommodation offer, you will select an arrival slot.
It will not be possible to move into your hall prior to your arrival day. If you intend to arrive to London ahead of this, you will need to arrange your own accommodation.
Please be advised that, like with most central London properties, our halls have no parking and limited access for drop off. You will need to be prepared to unload your car very quickly and find parking for your car elsewhere. You should also be prepared for queues. We advise travelling by public transport either all or some of the way to avoid congestion at the halls.
Specific parking and traffic information for your hall can be found below.
Travel disruption
A national rail strike has been announced on Saturday 1 October. (Most TfL services - except the London Overground - are unaffected). If you're using national rail services, you should be aware of how your journey may be disrupted.
You are welcome to arrive at a later date if your journey is impacted by the rail strike. However, we are unable to accommodate any early arrivals.
Please be aware that the rail strike may also affect our staff's journeys and would appreciate your patience should there be any delays.
When can I arrive?
All hall - except North Acton
Arrival day is Saturday 1 October 2022 between 09.00-17.00.
To help manage the arrival process you should select either an AM or PM arrival slot as part of your e-induction.
You should try to arrive during your arrival time slot where possible. However:
- if you are delayed, but still intend to arrive on the same day between 09.00-17.00, you don't need to inform us but you may need to be prepared to wait or queue for entry
- if you are delayed and are still able to arrive on the same day however, it is outside of 09.00-17.00, you will need to follow the specific access instructions for your hall which will be updated on this page about a week before arrival begins.
It will not be possible to move into your hall prior to your arrival day. If you intend to arrive to London ahead of this, you will need to arrange your own accommodation.
Woodward and Kemp Porter
To help manage the arrival process, residents at Kemp Porter and Woodward Buildings only can arrive between Wednesday 28 September – Sunday 2 October between 09.00-17.00.
Saturday is our busiest arrival day and, as such, we strongly encourage residents who can arrive on Sunday to do so. If you do arrive on the Saturday, you should anticipate traffic queues of up to 2-3 hours around the halls of residence.
Like most central London properties, our halls have no parking and limited access for drop off. You will need to be prepared to unload your car very quickly and find parking for your car elsewhere. You should also be prepared for queues. We advise travelling by public transport either all or some of the way to avoid congestion at the halls.
On whichever day you choose to arrive, you will then be asked to select either an AM or PM arrival slot as part of your e-induction. The number of arrivals per slot is limited, so if a slot is unavailable, we have already reached capacity. You will need to select an alternative arrival time or date.
You should try to arrive during your time slot where possible. However:
- If you are delayed, but still intend to arrive on the same day between 09.00-17.00, you don't need to inform us but you may need to be prepared to wait or queue for entry
- If you are delayed and are still able to arrive on the same day, however it is outside of 09.00-17.00, you don't need to inform us but you will be checked in by our 24 hour reception team.
It will not be possible to move into your hall prior to this arrival window. If you intend to arrive to London ahead of this, you will need to arrange your own accommodation.
