Who should attend?

This workshop is intended for staff who have attended the STAR Introductory Workshop, have written most their final fellowship application, and are close to submitting it.

This pre-submission workshop employs a combination of self-assessment, peer-assessment and tutor input to assess each participant's learning outcomes and practice against the Professional Standards Framework (PSF 2023)*. The primary focus of the workshop is to identify areas for development in your written application prior to submission. If it would be useful, there will also be an opportunity to review the two references you have obtained (if you have them available for the workshop) so that they can be checked for suitability before they are submitted to the review panel. There will also be a chance to share thoughts, peer feedback and good practice between applicants.

Key areas

  • Assessing draft applications against the Professional Standards Framework (PSF 2023), through a combination of self-assessment, peer-assessment and tutor input
  • Identifying areas for development to the written application prior to submission
  • Reviewing the two accompanying references (if appropriate) to check them for suitability and sufficiency
  • Peer sharing of feedback and good practice

Prerequisite

Participants would normally have attended the STAR introductory workshop, would be familiar with the Professional Standards Framework, and should have a draft or partial draft of their application ready for review during the workshop.

Further information

*From Academic Year 2023-24, the STAR Framework will operate and support colleagues for the new version of the Professional Standards Framework (PSF 2023). However, participants who have already prepared an application around the previous UKPSF (2011 version) are still encouraged to attend the workshop.
