Who should attend?

This workshop is aimed at those new to lecturing. It is a short, practical session with a small number of participants (maximum four) which will take place in a lecture theatre.

In order to tailor it to the specific needs of those involved, it runs on a by-request basis. If you wish to run this workshop for a group of colleagues from your department, faculty, hospital, trust, division or campus, please complete the workshop by-request online form and we will contact you in due course to further discuss your request and to arrange a suitable date, time and location.

Content

The aim of the workshop is to increase participants' confidence in speaking to large groups and to look at tips and tricks for presenting in this format. Please note that this workshop does not cover lecture preparation, and that you will be required to bring prepared lecture slides/teaching material to the session.

Key areas

Prerequisite

To attend this workshop you must submit in advance at least ten PowerPoint slides or other similar teaching material that you will use in the session. Details on how to do this will be sent to you after your booking is received. The presentation must be for a teaching situation and not a research presentation. Please bring a USB containing this presentation to the workshop.

Participants are also encouraged to attend A practical guide to communicating knowledge before attending this workshop.
