Introduction to designing assessment in the age of AI
Who should attend?
This workshop is designed for staff who want to reflect on the impact that AI might have on their assessment design. It takes participants through the assessment cycle, encouraging them to think critically about both the challenges and opportunities that AI presents. The workshop begins by inviting participants to articulate their own position on AI in relation to specific assessments. Drawing on case studies from across the institution, participants then explore appropriate approaches to assessment design in light of their assessment policies and the intended learning outcomes being assessed. From there, the workshop moves on to consider how best to communicate expectations to students, before finally exploring the role of AI in feedback delivery and student engagement.
Overall, the workshop creates a space for practitioners to examine their own practice, identify where AI may create challenges or offer new possibilities, and begin building a repertoire of strategies to respond effectively. In doing so, it supports staff in developing thoughtful, informed, and practical approaches to assessment in an AI-influenced educational context.
