In June 2017 the current cohort of EDU’s Supporting Learning and Teaching Pathway were joined by Professor Simone Buitendijk (Vice Provost, Education) to celebrate their achievement in completing the programme. Professor Buitendijk was joined by Dr Martyn Kingsbury (Director, Educational Development Unit) to present certificates of completion for the programme, which helps those who support learning and teaching at Imperial learn more about educational issues relevant to their non-academic roles.

This has been a great experience and I learned a lot about my own role at the college, as well as how to better understand individual differences and needs. "

Participant, SLTP 2017

This year’s participants represented the following departments:

National Heart & Lung Institute | Department of Medicine | Educational Development Unit | Business School | Human Resources Division | Student Support | Department of Bioengineering | Dyson School of Design Engineering | Library Services | Department of Life Sciences

The programme involves face to face workshops as well as completion of online activities over the course of six months in order to develop participants’ skills in learning and teaching. Completion of the programme allows staff to apply for Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.

Course director Iro Ntonia said: 'SLTP is a great opportunity for a wide range of Imperial staff to gain educational insight and enhance their teaching and learning practice. It brings together a varied, multi-disciplinary cohort which allows participants to learn together while also learning from each other.'

Applications for the programme starting in January 2018 will open in late September/early October 2017. You can register your interest by completing our expression of interest form.
