Electronic mid-term exams

Mid-term exams are low-stake assessments delivered around six weeks into the term, with the main aim of checking students’ progress and offering appropriate support for future learning. The exams usually consist of 1 to 15 questions and are delivered and marked electronically via Wiseflow software.

Online Maths low stake quizzes

This flexible, learning-focused quiz-based mathematics assessment supports two Chemical Engineering maths modules: Mathematical Fundamentals and Engineering Mathematics. The quizzes have a formative purpose, helping students learn maths concepts through flexibility in timing, unlimited attempts and opportunities to work in groups. Delivered 10 times throughout the academic year via WeBWork, each assessment covers approximately 10 questions linked to module topics.

Pre-Class Case Study Quizzes

Case study quiz questions are submitted two days before the class discussion. Each quiz contains five questions, worth 2–4% of the module marks, designed to be answered in approximately four concise sentences. Students choose from two case studies for each quiz. The quizzes take place twice during the module, with students completing selected question sets from the available case studies.
