Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a consumption tax which some countries impose on services. This may include our online courses.

Who pays GST

If you are normally resident and studying in a country that levies a GST, you may incur an additional tax charge.

For example, if you study an online course in one of these countries.

Countries with GST

Singapore

  • Rate: 9%
  • Effective from date: 1 January 2024

How to pay GST

We charge GST on tuition fee invoices at the rates shown. This applies to invoices raised on or after the effective from date.

If you begin your studies before the effective from date, we will absorb the cost for you. This includes GST charges for the duration of your programme.

Paying GST: step-by-step

  1. We add the tax charge to your course fee invoice.
  2. You pay your course fee invoice, including the tax charge.
  3. We pay the tax to the relevant authorities on your behalf.

If you travel to the UK to study, you do not need to pay GST. Educational services are exempt these taxes in the UK.

If you can not pay

If you are unwilling or unable to pay the GST, you can withdraw your application to study at Imperial.

If you want to withdraw your application, please read our course cancellation policy.
