Get involved with research across the globe as an undergraduate

What is IROP?

The International Research Opportunities Programme is a chance to spend 8–10 weeks over the summer vacation at one of our international partner universities and gain research experience.

All of our partner universities have been chosen for their reputation in science and technology and include some of the world’s top institutions.

Why take part?

You will work on cutting-edge projects and work alongside industry-leading experts. This is an exciting opportunity to experience working as a research scientist, while experiencing different working, learning and teaching styles.

Your IROP research may also go on to form the basis of your final year research project.

A bursary is available to help towards the costs of participating in the scheme.

How to apply?

IROP opportunities are advertised to eligible students internally by each department. Opportunities are limited and not all departments currently participate in the scheme.

The eligibility requirements and the application process for the scheme are determined by each department. Please check with your individual department for more information.
