Judging criteria

Judging criteria 1 - 3

1. Innovation

This criterion evaluates the originality and creativity of your solution. We're looking for an idea that is genuinely unique and moves beyond conventional approaches to the problem. Your solution should present a fresh perspective and demonstrate a clear departure from existing methods. A highly innovative project will surprise and impress the judges.

2. Feasibility

Your project will be judged on its potential to be a real-world solution. This includes:

  • Timeliness: Could this solution be developed and implemented within a reasonable timeframe (e.g., 4-6 weeks)?
  • Cost: Are your proposed budget and funding plan realistic and justifiable?
  • Scalability: Can your solution be expanded for use across different industries or geographies?

3. Technical rigour

This criterion assesses the scientific and technical foundation of your project. We will evaluate how well you have applied principles from STEM fields including mathematics, physics, engineering, and data science to your proposal. Your solution should be grounded in accurate models and data.

Judging criteria 4 - 6

4. Entrepreneurial impact

We are looking for a solution with the potential for real-world impact. Your project should have a clear and scalable market plan. A strong submission will show how the solution can be used in a larger context, such as being adopted by schools, businesses, or government agencies.

5. Clarity and cohesion

Your proposal and video should be well-structured, clear, and easy to understand. We will be looking for a logical and concise pitch that effectively communicates your problem, solution, and impact. A strong submission will be polished, coherent, and free of unnecessary information.

6. Interdisciplinary approach

This criterion evaluates the integration of diverse perspectives from different subject disciplines. Your team should show how you have effectively combined knowledge from different fields such as engineering, medicine, and the natural sciences to create a more holistic and robust solution. The best projects will leverage the varied skills of a multidisciplinary team.
