This March, we’re hitting the road and bringing Imperial on Tour to a city near you.

On this page:

We’ll be heading to Leicester, Cardiff, Warrington and York where you can
hear from our admissions teams, academic subject specialists and Imperial students about our courses, how to apply and what it's like to study and live in London – named the top UK city in QS Best Student Cities rankings in 2026.

What’s on offer at Imperial on Tour?

  • Taster lectures from some of our engineering, natural sciences and medicine courses
  • Inspiring talks from our staff about studying at Imperial
  • Opportunities to chat with Imperial students about their courses, clubs and societies, and student life in London
  • The chance to learn more and ask your questions about how to apply
  • Time to connect with other students passionate about science, technology, engineering and medicine

Explore our Imperial on Tour subject sessions

At your Imperial on Tour event, you can choose to attend two subject sessions available at your event in Business, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine subjects.

We’ll recommend a third subject session for you to attend to help you explore the broad range of STEMB subjects and disciplines we specialise in here at Imperial.

Business sessions

Business: An introduction to inequality

Available at: Imperial on Tour Leicester and Cardiff

This session will introduce you to one of the most important topics in economics: inequality. You’ll explore how economists measure inequality using tools such as the share of income held by the top 10%, the 90:10 ratio and the Gini Coefficient, and discuss whether high inequality is a problem for society. The session also examines trends in inequality over time and the economic forces behind them including globalisation, technology and tax policy.

Business: Money, growth and happiness

Available at: Imperial on Tour Warrington and York

This session offers an introduction to the fascinating world of economics by exploring the relationship between money, economic growth and happiness. You’ll explore how economists measure wellbeing through life satisfaction surveys and understand key concepts such as Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and discuss why governments focus on economic growth. The session also examines the limits of GDP and explores alternative measures of wellbeing, including global happiness indexes.

Engineering sessions

Civil Engineering: Introduction

Available at: Imperial on Tour Leicester, Cardiff, Warrington and York

Did you know that civil engineers can save more lives than medical doctors? Find out how at our engaging introduction to Civil Engineering and how it improves and maintains our natural environment.

Bioengineering: Driving innovation in healthcare

Available at: Imperial on Leicester, Cardiff, Warrington and York

Studying maths, chemistry or physics? Discover how these subjects drive innovation in healthcare at our hands-on Bioengineering subject session. Create hydrogels and learn about cutting-edge prosthetics, medical imaging and computational bioengineering.

Earth Sciences: Samples from outer space

Available at: Imperial on Tour Leicester, Cardiff, Warrington and York

Every year thousands of rocks fall from outer space. These samples are pieces of asteroid and other planets that come naturally to us and allow planetary scientists and geologists to look back in time with nothing more complicated than their eyes. At this session, discover the secrets of the formation of our solar system and hold the oldest thing you will ever touch.

Mathematics sessions

Mathematics: Synths, the universe and doodling

Available at: Imperial on Tour Leicester and Cardiff

What connects 17th century debates about astronomy, sound engineering and electronic music, and a clockwork doodling machine? The answer turns out to be trigonometry, but maybe not as you’ve seen it before.

Mathematics: Knot theory

Available at: Imperial on Tour Warrington

This hands-on introduction to knot theory strings together sailors, DNA and quantum physics while ultimately demonstrating why grannies shouldn’t be tying shoelaces.

Mathematics: The wisdom of crowds

Available at: Imperial on Tour York

Join us for an introduction to ensemble learning, a core idea in machine learning and one of the key techniques behind modern AI.

Medicine sessions

Medicine: Clinical anatomy

Available at: Imperial on Tour Leicester and Cardiff

Join us for a dynamic introduction to clinical anatomy through real world medical scenarios and see how understanding the body’s structure forms the foundation of safe, effective clinical practice.

Medicine combined session

Available at: Imperial on Tour Warrington and York

  • Exploring diabetes

More than 800 million people worldwide have diabetes. This interactive session will consider what’s driving this global epidemic, what it means for public health and how we might tackle diabetes in the future.

  • What medical schools are looking for

Medical schools want more than just good grades. Join us to explore how you can show that you have the skills and qualities that can maximise your chances of getting a place.
