Imperial STEMathon India 2025

Imperial College London, ranked #2 in the world (QS 2025), is thrilled to announce its annual STEMathon India schools’ competition from July to November 2025. We invite students from all over India to be part of this exciting event!

We’re seeking teams of three students from schools across the country to take on the challenge of creating innovative scientific solutions for one of the United Nations’ Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Applications close 1 September 2025. Please ensure you have the permission/agreement from your parents/guardians, team members and chaperones before applying to the competition. 

Entries will be judged by our team at Imperial College London and finalists will be selected and invited to participate in the finals in Bengaluru.

  • Compete for a spot in the finals: Battle for a place in the finals in Bengaluru in November 2025. Winners will receive a grand prize of £800 per person and a chaperone to participate in the global schools’ challenge competition final at Imperial’s South Kensington Campus in London in 2025.

Registration Fee

£150 per school team of 3 students (£50 per student)

Note: The fee covers participation costs only. Travel and accommodation arrangements to Bengaluru for the final round must be borne by the students themselves, and by the school for accompanying teachers, if shortlisted.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Team Composition: Each team must consist of three eligible students and one teacher from the same school and branch.
  2. Grade Levels: All team members must be in Grades 10 to 12. A mix of grades per team is permitted.
    Age Requirements: Students must be 15 – 17 years old from the date applications close and must not turn 18 until after 23 November 2025.
  3. Proof of Eligibility: Students will need to show proof of address, age, school branch, school year, and school approval if their application is successful.
  4. School Boards: Teams must be from one of the following boards:
    1. Council for Indian School Certificate Examination – Indian School Certificate
    2. Central Board of Secondary Education – All India Senior School Examination
    3. International Baccalaureate Diploma Program
    4. Cambridge Assessment International Education
  5. State Board Exclusion: Unfortunately, applications from state board-affiliated schools cannot be accepted.
    School Responsibility: Schools are responsible for chaperoning students throughout the competition, including the final round if selected.
