Imperial Global Hackathons bring together teams of ambitious young people to explore complex problems and develop innovative solutions that could make a real difference to society.

From healthcare and artificial intelligence to sustainability, climate change and future technologies, our events are designed to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs and changemakers.

How do Imperial Global Hackathons work?

Imperial Global Hackathons are international innovation challenges that encourage participants to work collaboratively and think creatively about how to tackle a real-world issue described in their challenge brief.

In their teams, participants explore innovative solutions to their chosen challenge and pitch their ideas to a prestigious judging panel that usually include industry leaders and Imperial academics.

Our Hackathons focus on developing the skills that universities and employers increasingly value, including critical thinking, teamwork, communication, leadership and problem-solving.

While prizes and awards are part of all of our events, Imperial Global Hackathons are about so much more than winning.

We combine our strength in science, engineering, medicine and business (STEMB) with scientific discovery, innovation and entrepreneurship, to tackle some of the world's biggest challenges.

Imperial Global Hackathons extend that approach beyond our campus. They give young people in India, Hong Kong and Macau the chance to engage with the same spirit of discovery and innovation that drives our research and education.
