We are aware that school examinations have been cancelled or significantly disrupted in a number of countries and regions around the world, including in areas of the Middle East, due to conflict, instability or other exceptional circumstances.

Imperial College London recognises the uncertainty this can create for applicants and is committed to ensuring that no student is disadvantaged because of circumstances beyond their control.

We are in ongoing contact with international examination boards and awarding bodies to understand the arrangements they have put in place where standard examinations have not been able to proceed.

Where alternative assessment arrangements have been introduced (for example, adjusted examinations, alternative assessments or validated grades), we require that:

  • Full details of the alternative arrangements are confirmed directly by the examination board or awarding body, rather than via schools or individual candidates
  • The arrangements are reviewed and approved through Imperial’s Admissions Committee governance process

This ensures that all applicants are treated consistently, fairly and transparently.

Approved list of alternative examination arrangements

Once alternative examination arrangements have been formally confirmed by the relevant awarding body and approved by Imperial’s Admissions Committee, they will be listed clearly on this page.

The list will be updated on an ongoing basis as new arrangements are approved. We encourage applicants and schools to check this page regularly.
