Eligibility criteria
There are two scholarship awards available for students studying the full-time MRes in Machine Learning and Big Data in the Physical Sciences in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Natural Sciences.
The scholarship is available to students with either a Home or Overseas fee status.
Eligible applicants must have received an offer of admissions for full-time MRes in Machine Learning and Big Data in the Physical Sciences by the end of May 2026.
To be eligible, applicants must be available to commence their academic studies in the UK by the start of 2026-27 academic year in September 2026.
Please note: This scholarship is available to new entrants only. Students already studying the course are not eligible.

Application process
How to apply
To apply you must have applied for your course in the Department of Physics on the full-time MRes in Machine Learning and Big Data in the Physical Sciences and have an offer of admissions by the end of May 2026.
Assessment
The Department of Physics will rank the applicants who meet the above conditions per academic merit and/or potential based on your College application.
Value of the Award
Each successful scholar will receive a cash bursary £8,000 to be paid towards tuition fees. The award is for a maximum of 1 year, and cannot be used for repeat periods of study.
Outcome of the Award
The successful candidates will be notified by email no later than 31 July 2026. If you have not heard from us by this date, please assume you have been unsuccessful in your application.
This award is for students starting in the academic year 2026-27 and cannot be deferred. All scholarships are awarded subject to students accepting award Terms and Conditions.
