Eligibility criteria

The Imperial Athletes Sports Scholarship is open to students who meet the following conditions: 

  • Are competing at regional, national, or international levels in their chosen sport 

  • Are enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate program at Imperial College London

  • Demonstrate the talent and commitment to fulfil their potential within their chosen sport 

  • Please note that while a high level of participation in your sport is valued, it does not automatically guarantee a place on the sports scholarship programme, as a range of factors are taken into consideration during the selection process

  • Athletes are expected to represent Imperial in BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) events and contribute to promoting the profile of their sport through social media and in-person events

Application process

Applicants are asked to complete an online application form.

Applications are open from 9th June until 5pm BST 4th August 2025.

Those that are shortlisted to the second stage will then be asked to attend an online interview. Shortlisted applicants will receive notifications confirming the timing and format of the interview shortly after the application closing date. 

Additional information

Imperial Athletes offers three tiers of scholarships: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. The support available is athlete-specific and tailored to the individual, aiming to provide a holistic, multi-disciplinary service to student-athletes. Financial support can be used for kit, equipment, coaching, and competition expenses. Strength and conditioning sessions are also provided at the performance gym located at Ethos and Putney Boathouse.  

 

Please note that the application window is open twice each academic year. The first window opens during the summer, prior to the start of Term 1, while the second window is open during the winter break and closes shortly after the beginning of Term 2.
