Eligibility criteria

This scholarship is open to applicants who meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a first degree in a science discipline (preferably a first or upper second class)

  • Have taken the GMAT exam, with a target score of 650+

  • Demonstrate strong business leadership qualities and a commitment to contributing to the economic development of the UK

  • Be a UK national, currently residing in the United Kingdom

  • Have between four to ten years of professional experience post-degree

Please note: This scholarship is not available to continuing students.

Course specific information

Available to applicants of the Full-time MBA at Imperial College Business School.

Application process

Applications should be submitted via the Royal Academy of Engineering, which administers the scholarship on behalf of the Engineers in Business Fellowship (EIBF).

  • Full details can be found on the National Physical Laboratory website.

  • It is not necessary to have secured a place at business school before applying.

  • Successful applicants without a confirmed place at an approved business school will receive a scholarship “offer in principle”, which must be taken up within 12 months, otherwise the offer will expire.

This scholarship builds on nearly 40 years of EIBF experience supporting engineers and now extends this opportunity to promising scientists. In partnership with the National Physical Laboratory, it aims to strengthen the UK’s global leadership in scientific research and economic prosperity by supporting scientists to develop advanced business and leadership skills.
