Course overview

Based primarily at the Natural History Museum, this programme will equip you with the practical and analytical skills required for a career in phylogenetics, evolutionary biology, and genomics.

You will acquire solid theoretical background in skills to address real-world problems in evolutionary biology, agriculture or epidemiology.

You will conduct two consecutive four-months projects on taxonomy-related topics, making use of excellent imaging and genomics facilities and the unrivalled collections at the museum. 

This course's close links with the museum will also provide you with opportunities to attend regular seminars and network with leading researchers as you build towards future PhD study or a research career.

  • ‘Big-data’ bioinformatics and biodiversity informatics
