Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for this bursary, you must:
Have Home fee status,
and meet at least one of the following criteria:
You have experience of being in care or are a care leaver, as supported by a local authority.
Your permanent home address* is in an area classified as:
Quintile 1 of the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) in England, or
Quintile 1 or 2 of the POLAR4 classification (which looks at participation in higher education).
You are the first person in your immediate family to attend university.
You currently attend a UK state-funded comprehensive school.
* Your home address refers to your usual place of residence, not a school or boarding address.
Please note: This scholarship is not available to continuing students.
Course specific information
This bursary is available to students applying for the following undergraduate courses in the Department of Bioengineering:
MEng Biomedical Engineering – A four-year integrated Master’s course combining engineering principles with medical and biological sciences to develop innovative healthcare technologies.
- MEng Molecular Bioengineering – A four-year integrated Master’s course focused on applying engineering approaches to molecular and cellular biology, preparing students for careers in biotechnology and research.
- BSc Biomedical Technology Ventures – A three-year Bachelor’s course designed to equip students with the skills to develop and commercialise biomedical technologies, with a strong focus on entrepreneurship and innovation.
