Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
be nationals of and ordinarily resident in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia or South Africa (SA candidates should be from a previously disadvantaged community)
apply to and be offered a place to study a three-year or four-year programme at College in the faculties of Engineering, Natural Sciences or the Imperial College Business School
demonstrate significant financial need, i.e. inability to meet the costs of studying at College
demonstrate the potential to become leaders in their chosen fields and contribute to the future development of their home country
It is unlikely that Parents/Guardians/Sponsors with an annual gross household income above US$100k will qualify. For full eligibility please visit the Beacon website.

Application process
1. Register on The Beacon Scholarships website and download a Nomination Form.
2. You must submit an application for an eligible course in the faculties of Engineering, Natural Sciences or the Imperial College Business School through the standard College application procedure as soon as possible and have an offer of admission by the deadline of 11:59pm (UK local time), 11th February 2026. We advise that applicants submit their UCAS application by 31st December 2025 to ensure that they receive an offer by the 11th February deadline. 3. Beacon invites shortlisted candidates for an interview and assessment (w/c 16th March 2026).

Value of Scholarship
Beacon and Imperial will each contribute 50% of the tuition fees at the Overseas rate. The Scholar (including their family or sponsor) will pay all living costs including accommodation, subsistence, airfares, visa, health surcharges and all other incidental costs related to study in the United Kingdom.
This award is for students starting in the academic year 2026/27 and cannot be deferred. All scholarships are awarded subject to students accepting award Terms and Conditions. Please note that the award is conditional upon you receiving an unconditional offer to study at Imperial by September 2026. Continuation of a Scholarship is subject to the Scholar maintaining satisfactory academic progress as defined by Imperial.
