Chevening Scholarships are the UK Government’s prestigious international scholarship programme, supporting outstanding individuals from around the world to pursue postgraduate study at leading UK universities.
 
At Imperial College London, Chevening Scholarships are awarded to candidates who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and strong leadership potential. Scholarships may be offered on either a full or partial funding basis and are available for eligible master's programmes across the University.

 

Applications for 2027-28 Chevening Scholarships are now open. The deadline for most applications is 11:00 UCT on 6 October 2026. Application deadlines may differ by region. Please refer to the Chevening website for more information.

Eligibility

To be considered for the Chevening Scholarships you must:

  1. be able to demonstrate that you have achieved a minimum English language requirement. All Imperial students must have a good command of the English language. Please refer to our English language requirement webpage for full details of entry requirements
  2. be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory at the time of applying for the award, and intend to return there at the end of the period of study (please refer to the Chevening FAQ's for further information and guidance) 
  3. hold a degree that is equivalent to at least an upper second-class (2:1) honours degree. Further information on UK degree equivalency can be found from UK ENIC (formerly UK NARIC)
  4. have completed at least two years' work experience
  5. return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your award has ended
  6. apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by 17:00 (UK time) on 8 July 2027.

How to apply

Prospective students should apply and submit applications electronically and directly through the Chevening website. It is also strongly recommend that you simultaneously apply to Imperial indicating which course you wish to study. Application fee

If you’re applying for a postgraduate course at Imperial, you may need to pay an application fee. You can find more information on application fees and check if you're eligible for an application fee waiver here. 

What the scholarship includes

  1. the full cost of Overseas tuition fees will be covered, with the exception of MBA programmes (Please note that a tuition fee cap of £22,000 applies to MBA courses; any fees exceeding this amount must be met by the scholar)
  2. a full maintenance allowance paid in monthly instalments
  3. economy travel to and from your country of residence by an approved route for you only
  4. additional costs, which are detailed here
