Sidebar no longer available

On the previous website design (prior to September 2024), a sidebar appeared on the left hand side of all content pages (those other than a landing page or home page) across the old web design. The sidebar area would automatically populate with a self-generated navigation menu displaying subpages within the parent section. In addition to this, it could also be populated with optional content such as call to action buttons or a colour block, for instance.

Note: any content that you had previously accommodated in a sidebar will not just disappear, nor will it get deleted. It will instead get automatically appended to the end of the page. This will give editors time to reconsider how to repurpose previous sidebar content in different ways before manually deleting their old sidebars.

There is more information on this change in lesson six of the Web redesign: overview of key changes and new content types online guidance.

If you wish to add a link block to your page then you can use the flexible content blocks which includes an item called Flexible item - Column block. This allows you to add a block of links alongside other content. Please read the guidance on Flexible content blocks.
