Below you can see an example of what a typical week looks like in Design Engineering Year 1:
Please note...
- The above example is provided for illustration only - your timetable may look very different when you join.
- Academic tutorials (i.e. tutorials connected to modules + general academic tutorial sessions) may be attended by Graduate Teaching Assistants - as is the case with the Module 3 session on Tuesday morning - or by students in later years of the MEng - as is the case with the Year 1 General Academic Tutorial sessions, which are also attended by Year 2 students. This gives new students the added benefit of learning from those who have previously covered the same material.
- Horizons modules are optional courses students can take in subject areas typically rooted in the humanities. You can find out more about the Horizons programme here.
- In addition to the above, there is an expectation that you will invest a significant amount of your time towards independent study. The demands on your time will be very different at university compared to school, and you will need to balance lectures, tutorials, workshops, assessment deadlines, independent study and extra-curricular commitments with university life in general. Imperial College has compiled some study tips and academic guidance to help you succeed - see the Preparing for your Studies section.
